I have an offer on the table for a 2011 D40 ST+ (optioned up by a Dept that then canned one of them) dual cab chassis, 4x4 for $35800 or $26500 changeover.

The D22 deal ($18600 changeover) was ok, but i went looking for a comparison from another dealer to settle my nerves and time to have a think.

The doubt in my mind is the $2500 fitted for a h'duty allum tray made by AMA in Brisbane (SthSide), and whether it (tray) is a good price or not.

Mrs wanted more leg room for our son in years to come, as we are not short.

I have until Monday mid morning to "go or no go" on the deal.
Any info appreciated.

Hi Grasshopper, mate i have owned both the 22 and now the 40, and i would defiantly go the D40.
my daughter is 14 and i also had to get a ute with more leg room, my girl was pleading with me not to get another D22 because she and my wife couldn't handle it on the long trips. My wife had to put her seat so far forward her knees would be touching the glove box and my daughters knees were still touching the back of the seat.

The price on the D40 seems awesome especially with a few options included. I paid 36k for a dec 2010 st (i first regod it in march 2011) on the run out deal.

As for the tray, if it is a truly heavy duty well built tray 2500 is more then fair. A "TIP TOP" tray would cost 3500+

Anyway good luck with what ever you go with.

Investigation on-line has thus far revealed:
Bocar's (Sydney based) offerings - http://bocar.com.au/special-deals/
This "Ultimate" tray deal is a killer in comparison to the dealer offered option.

Duratray (Morningside Bris) - http://duratray.net.au/index.php?link=deluxe-alloy-trays
no pricing info at all on the website.

Transbody (Archerfield Bris) - http://www.transbody.com.au/aluminium-ute-trays.html
Again, no pricing info on the site.

Messages have been sent requesting quotes from each of the above.

Another few companies you could look at which i think make good quality trays are "OBRIEN" and "TIP TOP".
The TIP TOP trays would have to be the best trays from the two and the best trays i have seen, but they use to charge a bit for the quality.

I think out of the three you listed the Bocar ultimate looks the best out of the three, and is very similar to the TIP TOP tray and i think.

Bocar were priced about $2500 including freight (but no fitting) to the transport centre at the nearby city.
Duratray came in at $2146 fitted = winner.
Transbody did not return my call for a quote = their loss.

The tray looks great - as can be seen in the pics i posted in my garage.
