Bull Bar Rod Holder

Hey guys, quick question on the bull bar rod holder.
Do your rods bounce and hit your roof? or do you just angle them up so they don't touch?

any info on this will be much appreciated since i've never used one before.

I wrap a rag around my roof racks and rest them on that.

Never done it myself, but I remember dad would wrap a rag around the front roof rack, and tie the rods down individually with mums old stockings, worked an absolute treat.

g'day
I dont have roof racks so I bought a couple of suction cup rod holders for the roof and put the ends in these, just picked them up from BCF and cost around $20. Have been to Fraser and back a few times with them never letting go.
