Hi all,

I had a outback extreme heavy duty solid flywheel and clutch put in my d40 some time ago and ever since it makes a knocking sound when in nuetral with clutch out.
It stops when i depress the pedal and is worse when cold.

Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? The mechanic who put it in had my car for days to do a clutch kit so I never took it back to him.
Its more of a nuisense thing.
Thanks guys

that's why it had a dual mass flywheel to keep the noise down, Not much you can do other than get used to it. mine does the same thing gets better when it's warm.

Thanks guys. It is more of a nuisance than anything. In glad its not just my car doing it :)

Hopefully it wont effect the resale when the time comes.

I was told it may be an ungreased input shaft but that was an unquilified source.

I get a lot of vibration right through the rear roof and canopy. Also get an almost grinding sound when idling along in first, especially when cold.
Id still rather have a secure clutch tho :)

Maybe time to change all the drive train oils as well (110k).
