Yes, they sent the kids they could home from school as the school of at least several hundred kids only had one 28" black and white tv.

Hmm. Not much response to this thread. Pity, probably could of had two options Terry as if you were alive, you more than likely would of watched it. I don't know anyone around my age who said they missed it.
I'll give the Americans credit it was probably the biggest day in the history of humans- so far.
Shame they or any other race does not have the tenacity or vision for such projects today.
The younger ones reading this (if they live to a ripe old age) may see a man on Mars but I'm sure I wont.

i was 8 and remember the day well..

Can still remember the day
They shuffled the whole shool into the main hall and we all watched it on the schools only B&W 26" tv
Still gives me goose bumps watching it today
