Hi all.

Came across an interesting issue a couple of weeks ago and would like to get your thoughts on what the issue may have been.

After a fairly long and difficult rocky hill climb in 4LO, I stopped at the top, put it into nuetral, foot on the brake, and selected 4HI. When I went to put in back in drive nothing would engage(car just rolled as it would in nuetral) It also did the same in reverse and when I tried to put it in park it made a loud and fast clicking noise and wouldnt let me do it. The 4WD light was on and so was the ATS light. Tried all combinations of things for about 5 minutes. After turning the car off and leaving it for 5 minutes everything went back to normal.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Secured.

I had a similar issue:
Down hill selected 1st LO = did not engage = Neutral
Put it in 2nd LO = OK
Put it back in st LO = Neutral
Stop + Switched OFF + Wait 2 min + Turn it ON = ALL GOOD
Only happened once, forgot to mentioned to Nissan Service guys

It must be something to do with overheating because I've had the same thing happen several times now when snatching out a motorhome and doing some prolonged beach driving. 2011 STX auto here too.
