Were in Lakes Entrance

Nice looking place. Pity it wasn't there 15 years ago before we gave up on Lakes as a fishing spot :cray:

Put some more fish in the lakes and we might come back

The lake at Lake Tyres is open. Has been for the last 6 months. Plenty of fish in the lake now, Just gotta know where to go :)

We've got use of a place down on Lake Tyres but since those wankers opened the lake with shovels about 15 years ago the lake just hasn't been the same. Sure there is fish in it and they can be caught but the numbers are down and most importantly the prawn numbers are down. Bunga is still our preferred beach down that way, Lakes main beach is too much of a walk, Eastern Beach has too many wankers and Tyres beach only seems to fish well from the lighthouse for some reason and if you're going to drive to the lighthouse you may as well camp down at Pettmans.

We give Lakes another go every 3 years or so but Mallacoota is our preferred location these days may parents are down there now reminding me just how many fish I'm not catching sitting at home working.

Well im only a 10 min walk from bunga, or a 1 min drive. Prawn can be caught at christmas time by the kilo. Yea your right though, people still persist on opening the lake by shovel and wrecking it, although this was a good opening, considering its still open 4 months later. Your right about mallacoota though, im heading up there cup weekend.

The prawns we used to get at Tyres were huge, then they got smaller as the Lake tried to recover from the artificial opening. We've only ever tried Bunga for prawns once, we also used to go to Manns Beach for prawns years ago but these days we just head straight down to Mallacoota, they seem to be easier to catch and bigger.

Yep we used to pull a few kilo's each night when they were running, just drop the dip net behind the houseboat, straight into the pot!

I know of a spot thats been a quality fisher for the last 6 or so years...great duskies and now and again some big bream

During the warmer months at Mallacoota its unusual not to get atleast 2 frogs that are over 55cm and atleast half a dozen of 40+. And there is one spot where Bream will go 30-40cm most days. But some days you'll see boats coming in with next to nothing. Mallacoota just seems to fish better more often

Back in the 90's before the new jetty/car park was in you could stand on the waters edge and cast into the channel and 3 hours in the morning would yield a bag limit of pinkies and the rest of the day wouldn't be worth fishing. Things have changed these days. There is some monster eels up the north arm though.
