hey i have 32'' 11.5 stt
i dont have enough clearance under my d22 single cab tb.
i have been looking at a few 2'' lifts not quiet shore whats the go. i have around $2g to spend.
any help would b good cheers

$2000 is a comfortable budget. If I was going for a 2" lift, I'd get add-a-leafs from anywhere for the rear, and just crank the front torsions then get an alignment. 4x4 shops will want to sell you HD torsions, new shocks all round, if it were me I'd be telling them to go stick it. The only slightly worthwhile thing they'll want to flog you is longer rear shocks but they're not 100% necessary.

For 2 grand you could get a 2' suspension lift & 2" bodylift & still have some change.
You don't torsion bars unless you have steel bar & winch.
Regardless of other people :stop: tell you the std shocks are just crap.
If the std suspension in any brand of 4wd was any good ..ARB, TJM, Opposite Lock & Pedders & heaps of people like me would be out of business.
Plain & simple the std stuff is there to hold the body off the tyres.
Cheers

What can you functionally change in the construction of a damper? Valving and duty duration till fade? Dampers are a wear item, so ARB, TJM, Opposite Lock & Pedders make money selling dampers to replace worn units, and sometimes selling "upgraded" units to the kind of people who think a shock absorber will give them "a bit more" lift. Just like they sell heavy duty torsion bars so people can lift their cars, which Zordo also agrees is unnecessary. To acheive a lift, you only need (NEED... want is different) to change your damper valving from the thoroughly tested factory valving to a different valving if you have increased or decreased the unsprung mass of your vehicle.

People like Zordo are in the business of making money, that's fine, we all are, but someone has to come out in favour of keeping their money in their pocket. In reality if you're selling a "lift" kit for a Navara, all the kit need include is a modification to the rear springs (helper or extra leaf or extended shackle) and lengthened rear dampers if desired.

An aftermarket suspension "upgrade" kit can include new dampers, but that's not what the OP wants as far as I can tell.

Mate i don't want to get into a war of words on this.
But you can take a near new D22 & fit aftermarket suspension & it will improve the ride & handling & lift it as well.
You are right i do sell suspension to make money, but i don't JUST SELL suspension just to make money.
On many occasions i have told people not to fit stuff for example torsion bars as most of time they are unnecessary.
In fact just fitting new shocks will improve any 4wd.
If the aftermarket won't improve the 4wd there is no point in fitting it.
Fitting upgrade suspension is also dependant on how OFFROAD you go.
At the end of the day it's the individuals choice.
If you are happy with your std suspension that's fine don't change it.
Cheers

my 2 cents.. when i put on a HD rear leaves and TBs up front with new shocks the ride improved out of sight. Oh and the HD torsion bars up front stopped the front diving under hard braking and also turned into corners a lot better, glad i went TB as well.

Pete has a decent budget so I would improve the ride at the same time I lifted it if it was my choice. New shocks will improve the ride immensely.

Plus if you plan on touring or doing a decent amount of towing/fourbying I would trust aftermarket shocks not to give out on you when you are on the track.

Iam in a simular boat to pete573 contemplating what to install.
I currently have stock standard suspension setup except for airbags in the rear.

I have a steel bar, dual batteries and will have a tigerz11 winch very shortly, also running 265/75/16 BFG A/Tz but will have another set of 285/75/16 M/Tz. In the rear I have a custom steel H/D tray with large tool boxes and ladder racks. Standard weight of my D22 STR in the book is around 1875kgs when I weighed her last she was 2400kgs loaded for monday to friday driving and around 2200kgs for weekend driving when unloaded. I personaly think it handles terribly at the moment and am wanting to upgrade the whole lot basically.

1. I just stick to a standard 2" EFS lift kit installed for around $1500 with H/D leafs.

2. I spend the dollars and go a snake or calmini 3" lift kit for around $2500-$3000.

3. Like the sound and reviews of the following componentry. Rockcrawler Torsion Bars, H/D Rockcrawler Leafs (400kg constant load), Rancho RS9000X shocks all round, then maybe a In Cab Shock Adjuster. Guessing around $2000 installed.

Feel free to fire away with all your thoughts and pro's and con's for me, Zordo feel free to send me a price on the last items if you can get them and delivery to VIC.........thanks guys.

my thoughts....i've go 2" lift with a standard lift kit over the snake/calmini. Rockcrawler is overpriced, I'd look at aussie stuff like Dobinson (my personal fav, yet to hear someone not happy). EFS seems to get both good and bad feedback, seems a few on other forums have had them sag a little earlier but i don't believe everything i read. oh and i don't think Rancho RS9000 are very well regarded, also that the adjustment thing is pretty much just a gimmick with them.

Have to agree with Woznme rock craller are over priced.
Go with H/D efs rear leaves & their torsion bars. [you are fitting a winch.]
If you want adjustables rancho are OK on a leaf sprung truck.
A guy on the gold coast fitted some to his D22 & he loved them.
So full EFS kit inc bars freighted $1500
EFS with rancho adjustables freighted $1900
Cheers

Seems a lot of people are telling me Rockcrawler products are overpriced.
Are the EFS rear leaves rated for 300kg or 400kg constant load?
Purely only wanted to go the Rancho's for that bit of adjustment, as I have 3 different types of driving, work fully loaded, weekends for play unloaded and then towing small caravan/camper when we go away. I have heard good reports on them, would you recommend something else instead Zordo or stick with them?
Anyone else have a suspension opinion?
Thanks guys, Cheers.

Plenty of reading for you pete573..........

hey guys thanks for your replies.
so you suggest the efs with ranchos adjustable's would be a good set up?? Also does that include aftermarket torshion bars?
Also will i be able to fit ny 32'' 11.5 on 15x 8 under it?

thanks
pete

EFS leaves are rated at 300kg .
You don't need torsion bars unles you have steel bar & winch.
Torsion bars can be fitted at a later date if you really needed them.
Cheers

hey guys i thought id add my 2 bob in
i have a 3" kit in that i bought from snake racing with rancho RS9000 in the rear and rancho RSX in the front i dont know if they make adjustable ranchos for the front. my nav handles so much better on road and off road than standard i have the upgraded torsion bars but only have a ali bull bar eventually id like to get dual batterys and a winch and steel bar when money allows for it the kit has been in for about 30 000 kms and i havent had a problems with it

Cheers matt

I like the look of the snake kits but not sure if I can justify the coin that comes with it......Free Locka is a good deal though at the moment!

Pete573 I have 265/75/16's (basically 32") on my Nav with standard suspension, slight trim of the front mudgaurd and they fit fine, no rubbing at all.

Zordo the items we are talking about for mine (EFS TB & HD Leaves with Rancho Shocks) something you would recommend in my situation being a suspension specialist or would you recommend a better way........? Thanks again.

Mate that is a pretty good kit . The only way to improve on that is use med leaves & fit air bags , that way you can carry loads [ with air bags] & still comfortable when empty.[ hardly any air in bags]
Otherwise
You said you have 3 driving situations .
You must include some weight when playing otherwise the H/D springs wont work properly.
So in simple terms.
The best option med leaves , h/d torsion bars & air bags
Good option h/d leaves & torsion bars must must keep some weight on board to get the rear end to work when playing.
Cheers

Thanks Zordo, forgot to mention I have Air Bags in the rear already the BOSS Bellows type.
So do EFS do meduim duty leaves? What are they rated to for constant load?
Becuase I have a steel tray there is some weight there when unloaded over standard about 200kgs for than the standard styleside tub I think.

The way to go then, EFS H/D Torsion Bars, Rancho RS9000X Shocks All Round, Med Duty Leaves and keep the air bags in also. That'd be me best bet then. Thanks again, your help is much appreciated. Cheers.

Pete573, Initially I drove with them on so they would rub on flaps so I knew where to trim them, I tried running without mudflaps on, too many stone chips though, so just trimmed them up with a hacksaw blade and hot knife to smooth off the edges, then screwed em back on. Give that a go 1st. Then lift her up if that fails, which it shouldnt.

EFS med leaves 150kg-----EFS h/d leaves 300kg
rethinking your weight with the steel tray probably better of with the h/d leaves.
Cheers
