Oil catch can

Hi all,

Read the threads on catch cans, all seems good, however the only ones I can seem to get, Supercrap etc are empty cannisters with no way of inserting any filter material.

Do the empty can varieties work? or if not where can I source a reasonable priced filtered unit.

Are the 10mm hose fittings good enough, Nav are 16mm but have an inline restrictor.

, you can get them from Active Air Spares in Brisnbane.

The hose size is one inch so it's plenty big enough. I've got one on my ZD30

empty catch cans don't do jack.
use 16mm fittings.
make some kind of filter medium. some have fitted a breather filter via the centre fitting.

Spender,

Did you drain the recovered oil into the sump or use a check valve and drain into a separate container? How often would the filter need changing?

Im getting one of these:

PRO VENT 200 CRANKCASE BREATHER PROVENT 4WD - eBay 4x4 Accessories, Exterior, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 21-Feb-10 15:38:43 AEDST)

Just need to get a T piece welded into the oil return pipe from the turbo to the sump for the drain of the can to connect to. Bit of a hassle but worth, ie no maintenance in the future.
