I got a cheap nasty one for mine, which I may end up replacing with a better one, but anyway... There's not really any cons, apart from turning it up too much and over boosting causing engine problems, I would push much more than 20psi, but you won't get any more power out of it unless you get a chip to increase the fuel going in too....

Ive got the slightly newer version of the turbotech one.if i was to do it again i would get the turbosmart...purely for ease of setup...the turbo tech is fiddly

Thanks for the replies. I was more wondering if they were worth it to reduce wastegate creep for now. Chip maybe one day but I guess before that intercooler. As they say, "it's all money"!

You've got a Forefront turbo so the wastegate arm is adjustable. That won't stop boost creep but it does let you adjust boost levels up or down which is the main reason we use tee's.

I didn't notice any difference in spool up with the boost tee, but i put mine in fairly soon after the chip which absolutely eliminated all lag.
I just dialed the chip up to where it was starting to smoke a tiny bit, and then dialed the boost up until there was no smoke.

Hey all. Noticed a few of you trendsetters were running boost controllers or boost tee's like these

Pros seem to be raising boost slightly and eliminating wastegate creep

Are they worth it (not meaning cost wise as they are only $42 and $88) and are there any cons?

Cheers

the cheap ball and springs ones are your best bet.

getting rid of wastegate creep will help. not sure if it will make a big difference due to zd30 being so under fueled at low rpm.

I think it's worth it just to eliminate waste gate creep, god knows how weak the spring is in the actuator after 200, 000 odd k's.
