We went for a day trip out to Kroombit Tops, which is a National Park out the back of Calliope in Central Qld. It is a a circuit type trip (if you wish) with a 15 Km one way section. The tracks are in reasonable condition being heavily rutted in a few spots due to the heavy rain earlier in the year. Is a pleasant drive winding up through cattle properties on the way. Some stubborn cattle that rule the road are to be met along the way, but a little patience and a couple of revs of the engine and they move off. Horn doesn't seem to worry them much.There is a bomber plane wreck to view after a short walk and well worth the effort. Was hidden by the bush for 49 years before being found. There is a camping area called the wall and we are looking forward to heading there for a camp. So if you haven't been there before or are in the area on holidays, is worth a look.
