EGR Code P0488

Code P0488 has come up, egr, throttle control problem. Went in to limp mode. Cleared code but returns after about 2klms but now not in limp mode. Removed blanking plate which had 8mm hole in it, been in for 8,000klms.
Still under Nissan extended warranty, done 120,000k.
Will be ok to drive to dealer about 30klms?

yes no engine damage should occur with this fault. did you disconect the battery for approx 10 minutes before re connecting ? if not try it.

No just reset code with scan tool. Will disconnecting battery do anything different?

Should be fine to drive to the dealer. Limp Mode, as such, protects the engine from any damage as a result of a sensor/controller or module operating outside of its parameters.

With that said. Sounds like the EGR controller (its a throttle body on the EGR Circuit) has bitten the dust.

Taking in for oil leak tomorrow somewhere up behind power steering they said but have a lot of oil under plazmaman pipe. Only started after intercooler replaced. Also replacing radio as digital readout keeps dissappearing. So can fix egr at same time. Sure glad we had extended warranty.

Hi ekka i have same oil leak around bottom of plasmaman pipe also after new intercooler can you please post what dealer says thanks

Hi jimbo,
Should have the 550 back later today, will let you know the result. Spoke to a guy at plazmaman yesterday and he thinks they have damaged the o ring inside pipe when reassembling after fitting new intercooler. They have new o rings for $8 each.

Spoke to service department about leak all they said was it had been resealed so guess they replaced o ring. Not leaking now. Also repaired oil leak behind power steering pump. Was a 1/2" plug which had to resealed.
