Hey all my mate has a D40 petrol 2005 model stx and has a whining noise coming from the rear. He has had the wheel bearings checked and they are fine. I am thinking it may be the diff?

Question is has anyone had a similar fault and also how to you refill the diff oil? is it fill to spill through the filling port?

any advice appreciated

yes, level with fill hole. no need to overflow it though. Whining is never good, maybe new oil will fix it but it may worn. someone with more knowledge might confirm your suspicions.
