How much do you guys pay (on average) for your services?

I had my 10,000km done today on my 09 D22, and it cost me $475 (Metro Nissan Brisbane). Seems very steep to me. They did a wheel alignment & rotation, that was $115 - they told me it was necessary to do this every 10,000km - to me that seemed like BS, what do you guys think? (standard tyres, standard suspension, I don't carry heavy loads and most driving is highway/city).

Luckily I negotiated vehicle servicing into my salary package so I didn't have to pay for it, however I can see this privilege being removed if my servicing costs are going to continue at this cost, considering my previous vehicles have been $150-$200 (including my D40)

Sounds about right with an Align and Rotation.

The rotation is a must every 10k if you want decent tyre life.

Alignment is a matter of monitoring tyre wear patterns, i.e if say inner shoulders are wearing excessively an alignment would be required.

Greg

Hey Wires,

I got mine serviced (10K) at a Nissan Dealership here in Perth before going on holidays. I had just done the suspension lift and had a wheel alignment done the week before.

I was extremely wary about servicing costs on the vehicle so I asked in advance what it would cost? I was told about $340 or something like that. The girl went through the inclusions of what would be replaced etc and mentioned "we usually do a wheel rotation and alignment also". I figured this was part of the price and so gave the go ahead. When I got the bill, it was for around $470 odd.

I demanded to know where the extra costs were. She said the wheel alignment and rotation. I argued that I wasn't told it wasn't included, she said she told me it wasn't. We argued for a couple of minutes and finally gave me a free car wash coupon as I had waited for the car they hadn't done it.

I told them it was the last time they would see my car unless for warranty repair unless I was at least refunded the cost of the alignment.

It's now due for it's $20K service. Guess who wont be getting my Nav for the service.

Still pissed about it  The $10K service is a joke in any case, the car is still brand new at $10K.

i paid 220 or so i think to do it on my nav which was oil filter, oil and overall check (kick the tyres).

its all just labour costs...

its no wonder why i do everything myself now; i just get a mate that works at SCA to get me discount oil, and it costs me 50 bucks to replace oil filter, fuel filter, prefuel filter and air filter from a filter specialist shop :)

at the moment i'm doing front end work:
japanese wheel bearings/races
hub seals
heavy duty axle seals
gaskets
japanese swivel hub bearings/races
chromoly cv's
slotted rotors
4wd brake pads

total cost is around 800 for parts, though it'd be around 500 if i didnt go with chromoly cv's.

i'd HATE to imagine the cost to have it done by a mechanic, EEP!!!

minor service was around $250 for me, but I think 10K is the frist major service isn't it? if so then 4340 plus trye rotate and balance is prob right

my 30k service was only 350. at northside nissan in perth but not going to go to them any more too many dramas with them. so going to my mates dads mechanic shop.

My Coopers only get rotated when I get a wheel alignment. Could be 10,000-30,000km's.

Still seem to get around 60,000-80,000km's out of them.

I drive mine hard at times and it hangs on, must be doing something right.

Dave.

I've just had my 30k service which costed just a touch over $200. They have all been the same price so far for me (Kloster Nissan, Newcastle).

I hear the 40k is a major though, does anyone know what the 40k service is worth?

I have had mine serviced at Metro Nissan as well, I think they do a quality job, you just have to be careful with the "additions" they try to add on. I have had an injector clean done but I think it was well worth it, this was an addition to normal servicing costs.

I commented last time I was there that the cost was a bit steep, he told me that they would do it at fleet prices from now on........

Also I think prices have recently gone up there by about 10% (last couple of months).

services.

l have an 02 ute with 3.0lt t/d engine and was told by nissan dealers that major service will be around $850 - $950. l am doing it myself but price doesn't suprise me as l had a ryco fuel filter to fit but after reading some posts l bought a genuine one $70 with the 2 extra seals. Add all the other filters, oils, packing wheel bearings etc it would soon add up if someone else is doing it. Better to learn how to do things yourself anyway in case of breakdown in the bush etc.

Yeah I don't have any complaints about their service either in the office or the actual workmanship. Like someone else said, Nissan said they would do the wheel alignment and I thought okay that must be included, I didn't know that it was an add-on or whether it really needed doing. I must say though I feel pretty damn violated when I'm paying $120 an hour for a 2nd year apprentice grease monkey to work on my car, when I am charging out highly qualified electricians at $70/hr. I will be taking it to my local mechanic from now on, Nissan will only see it for warranty stuff.

Not yet there with the 10Kkm service(still to do 1Kkm). but the quoted price locally is $250. Sort of alternates $250/$340 according to the pre-purchase info I was given.

Thanks for the heads up on the tyre rotation trick. I'll have to remember to ask before I book the service exactly what is included.

i wonder what the 100k service is gunna cost from nissan with timing belt replacement ?

^ Only VG30E and VG33E owners need to worry about that on here.

The rest are chain driven cams and a few like the QD32 and TD27 are gear driven cams.

Dave.

Had the 10k service done today, quoted $297, signed for $297 at drop off, was only charged $247 on pick up. Apparently Nissan have a new 'fixed price service' program, meaning set prices will be charged nationally for the set services.

can't complain!!
