Chassis Rust

Bought my first Navara (1988 D21 Dual Cab Chassis/Tray, TD2.7)

Noticed a problem on the chassis when I got it home.

Quite a bit of rust on the chassis rails under the firewall. On the drivers side it looks like they welded a plate over it. Looks like I will need to do the same on the passenger side.

Has anyone else done this type of repair ? Is it an acceptable repair (car is unregistered so will need to go over the pits to get re-registered)

Hi Mate, do you have any pics?? Generally you cut the rusty panels and seal weld new ones. As for the chassi rails when you say a plate has been welded over it, personally i don't think it will pass a roadworthy. Is is the car from mudgareeba off ebay?? If so a good mate when to have a look and you could not fix the rust in the chassi. Was not worth buying a bare chassi to transplants.

Bought the car from a Pickles Farm Auction.

Was only just out of Rego, but was registered for "Farm Use" which concerns me.

Will try to take some photos on the weekend and put in this post.
