Hi guys,

My name is Will, Just joined the forum because im seriously looking at a D22 STR.

Im currently a spare parts apprentice for a dealer in adelaide (not nissan :() but i do specialise in off road vehicles.

the reason i want a D22 is because i think they look tough and appear to be capable for what i want ( mild to mid difficulty mud/sand tracks) and i want to lose this stereotype by the police ( young male in a newish V8 commodore) tired of all the hassles so i'll get myself into something they wont look twice at. plus the VY is not very pracitcal. What good is a fast car when you can only do 80km/h max in adelaide? so i want to get into some more off road adventures :)

i have a few questions about the D22 that i hope you guys can point me toward the correct sections and links or you might even know:

can you get sunraysias for them? ( i read someone put GU? patrol steel rims on and they just stick out, i dont really want to put another flare on the flair. can someone tell me what options i have relationg to wheels because the standard cross pattern would really annoy me. I could live with almost anything else but them IMO they really bring the cars appearance right down!)

secondly what should i be looking for in particular when i start hunting for one in the next few weeks? anything that wears and tears easily etc. im very fussy when it come to cars, im only buying a STR, HAS to be BLACK (yeah i know horrible colour to keep clean but i dont care, my car now is black lol) has to be manual.

thanks for reading:)

will.

Gday mate.

Haven't looked into the sunraysias, Id go Patrol offset as it will make it more stable.

The steering wheel can get marks on it from wear and tear, cant think of anything else really.

Yep there's black, all STR's are manual. So easy choice.

Good luck.

Dave.

Yeah you can get steel wheels for about $90-$100 available in black, white, or chrome which I reckon would look pretty horn on a black navara. The patrol wheels you are talking about are probably the ones I had on for a while. I wasn't happy with them as my turning circle increased quite a bit and the tyres scrubbed the guards. The steering felt less responsive also, I'm pretty fussy but I don't think this would bother a lot of people. As far as getting a black navara you can get them in black over silver or completely black. Good luck with cleaning it though. Having a black 4b compared to a black car is a little different but I know there is a few people on here who have black. Welcome to the forum by the way.

G'Day Will,
I have a black on silver new D22 STR, from new I traded the original wheels/tyres for Black Dynamic Sunraysia's (Navara D22 Offset +30 from memory) with a set of 265/75/16 BFG All Terrains......Looks the goods over the standard alloys, wasnt a big fan of them either.........Have a look at my pics in my profile !
