16" vs 17" rims and tyres

Hi all,

I am a Navara newbie after ditching my triton and ordering a 2011 Navara - wondering what rims & tyres to fit?

Was thinking 17" with 265/65 but a friend has the same on his Hilux and says it's a rough ride on the dirt?

Thinking now 265/75 R16

Will the 16" be a much better ride - should i even contemplate 17" for off road??

16" will mean less choices for rims.
I have both 16 and 17 inch wheels with BFG AT's fitted and there is a difference in ride between the 2 sets.
The 265/70/R17 gives a better handling ride but the 265/75/R16 gives a softer ride with the taller sidewalls

For the same outside or rolling diameter, the 16's will have a higher sidewall therefor should give a softer ride and a better footprint when pressures are lowered offroad. 16 inch tyres will also be a fair bit cheaper to buy and replace.
