Not so much as funny but more like dangerous.

This is the latest craz to hit Christhchurch NZ.

These guy's go into the hill suburbs and can reach speeds in excess of 100kmph and do most of the racing at night.

Lol, notice the cast on the leg of the cameraman? Wonder how he broke his leg.

I'm guessing that the back wheels are go-kart tyres... I have seen those things at the shops and they have hard plastic wheels on the back normally which would not handle like that, and I'm pretty sure would shred at 100 clicks.

Would love to give it a go, but only somewhere where I was sure there wasnt about to be a car coming the other way

They look like the standard wheels to me, they may have upgraded the bearings, but they would have to be hard plastic to be able to slide like that. Keeping in mind that go kart will step out because they are powered and light, these things are just rolling down the hill.
