Read on a number of forums that people have problems with Nissan when it comes to making a warranty claim. I have to say that I've never had a problem either with my GU Patrol or my D40 when needing to make a claim. I'm thinking that the attitude of the dealer and the advice they put to Nissan may be the deciding factor on getting a yeah or nay from Nissan. With my D40 I had a torque converter problem....Lennock Motors put the question to Nissan and had the new converter fitted inside a week.
I recently put to Lennock the possibility of having a new steering (cruise control) shroud fitted because the paint was blistering a little, and the power knob on my radio had a bit of paint flake off. Got a call about 2 days later to bring the car in and all would be fixed....just picked it up and they didn't just replace the power knob but fitted a brand new stereo unit and also a new shroud. I wasn't worried about these little things but I've gotta say thus far I've been impressed with the service I've had from both Lennock and Nissan.

Disclaimer: Only interest I have is as a customer....and admit to being a bit of a Nissanophile.

It stands to reason that not all dealerships are arseholes. Some do work off their own back for customers, some don't, some spin believable bullshit other don't. But just like your methods as the consumer would dictate how the dealership treats you their methods no doubt dictate how they get treated by Nissan and with very few warranty claims approved at the dealership level it wouldn't be suprising to see some people have suffered because of their dealer not them self.

As much as I dislike my local dealer when it's come to the only warranty claim I've had on the Nav it wasn't too bad, sure they could have taken less than 6 weeks but the car wasn't off the road so it's not like I was disadvantaged.

Law of averages says there has to be atleast a few good dealers out there willing to help the customers.

The guys at Lennocks are great. They didnt hesitate to try to support me in every way.
BUT
Its Nissan in Melbourne that can be an issue
So yes I will definately stick my hand up for say that
Pete you know the story of my truck only too well. When it comes to things that are pretty much black and white the Dealers can make the call. However when its a bigger issue then its head office causing the issues.

I agree, I've never had a problem. When I bought mine last year I was willing to replace the plastic shroud around my cruze control. I was talking generally about how I got such a good deal buying the car to my dealer when I went in for the heavy duty suspension fitted (recall), and was joking around and said any chance of the cruze being under warranty and he said he had done a few so why not another one. I think it depends on how you relate with the service centre and how nice they are.

In contrast, I walked into another dealer in Adelaide when trying to find a navara and the salesman said "you're a student, my time is quite frankly better spent on the sales floor than taking you for a test drive. I will be quite happy to talk to you but when a real customer comes in I have to service them". little did he know I had cash for the car and had already put in an online inquiry. When the manager rang i regards to the online inquiry I told him how I had been treated, and where they can shove there service. Everyone looking at a Nissan since I have told them about the dealer, so they have all avoided them.

It all does depend on the dealer

I've got my truck in for warranty at the moment and have no end of issues with Nissan in melbourne. The dealer couldn't find the problem so sent some photos to their tech specialists and they deemed there to be no manufacturing defect. If you have a good dealer stick with them because they may be able to help you out in silly situations down the track.

I also had no problems with croydon nissan vic when my timing chain snapped causing the engine to seize, they wrote to nissan head office with my service history and a week later they rang and told me that they will fit a brand new engine and turbo with no ??? asked. There service was awesome and kept me informed all the way.:cheers!:
