hello members, never owned a nissan before,am lookin to get into a used d22 twin cab,2005-07, can someone help with things i should look out for, i have heard some nasty stories,

Welcome to the forums, first thing is ignore the stories. Bad news travels fast and problems will arise with anything. Have a look through the D22 section and you'll see some reported problems but mostly happy campers.

Welcome aboard!

The thing to remember with sites that specialise in complaints is that the only people that post there are those that have a complaint (now how "duh" is that?).

There are many thousands of OTHER owners that don't post there. People just don't visit complaint sites when they have nothing to complain about!

Every manufacturer has lemons. You can only take one for a test drive, have a GOOD listen to it. Make sure it's going to do what you want it to do - if you want to go off-road and do water crossings, a petrol engine isn't for you, go the diesel.

Good luck with your choice. You'll find the D22 stock is a little underpowered, but go and see Robert at ChipIt and they'll provide a chip that will greatly enhance the power output.

If the model you've chosen doesn't have an intercooler, count on getting one very soon, because one of the biggest problems with that era D22 is a blown turbo (comes from not letting the turbo cool properly). When the turbo lets go, all the bits enter the engine and destroy it - the intercooler catches the bits, and provides a modest performance boost the rest of the time.
