what kind of driving are you intending to do?
If your going to do any towing (more than a 750kg rated box trailer), then its a really good idea.
If your going to do any heavy duty low range work off-road (on a regular basis) then its also a really good idea to do it.

There was a thread today or yesterday that I'm sure suggested D40's all had them from the factory, maybe it was model specific and maybe it was suggested the factory one wasn't big enough but I'm sure it was words to that effect.

Thread actually just suggested D40's have them (i.e. not model specific) but bigger could be better. Mines towed well over 3T up and down the hills and hasn't needed it but then I also don't drive it as hard as some, especially when towing that kind of load.
