Hi guys,

Got my new D40 back in October. Had ladder racks fitted by the dealer but now I have decided to go with a canopy.

  • Must have lift up side windows (not sliding)
  • Prefer fibreglass
  • Available in Brisbane

Any recommendations/suggestions?

Cheers,
Ben

I've got the Snug-Top that Nissan supplies. Let me find a nice pic of it ...

And again, different angle, showing how clean the line is. The lip of the canopy actually sits over the outside of the tub, so it's difficult for rain to get into the tub.

Problem: it cost me $4500 supplied with the vehicle. I don't know what they're worth if Nissan don't supply it.

Hi Guys,

I'm a first time poster, long time lurker. I got a Pegasus twenty-ten put on my D40. It cost around $2700 fitted. It's a bit more costly than the Nissan or ARB, but it's fully lined has gas struts on the windows and interior light. It came with a bonus bonnet protector, and those stupid bloody window visor things, that I can't figure how to get off without damaging the paint.

The Pegasus link is below.

Thanks for the feedback.

I checked out Krafty's review of the Avenger and I'm pretty impressed with it. The large side windows are a big plus for me.

I'll make a few calls next week. It looks like Caddy supply the same canopy and are not too far from home.

Cheers,
Ben

Can't for sure say the Caddy is the same because I haven't seen one up close but it's very similar and the only thing that made the difference for me was that Caddy in Melbourne were rude, arrogant and wouldn't talk to be about ordering a canopy without getting my deposit over the phone first. Avenger I had a few troubles with after delivery but up until the canopy was delivered they were brilliant.

I just picked myself up a snugtop second hand off ebay. I'm very happy with it and it sits nice and flush wen its on. Highly recommended.

Just ordered the Avenger Workstyle through Opposite Lock. Avenger have one in stock so I should be getting it installed next week with any luck.

Thanks for your advice.

Now I need to start thinking about drawers and an aux battery.....

If you're not already wearing drawers wearing them now wont help you with the aux battery. :sarcastic:

There is a few threads here on aux battterys but no matter what method you choose my advice is to think it out thoroughly because it's a PITA down the track when you want to change things around.

Here is a pic of my Nav pre-canopy.

Hopefully I'll be able to post one next week showing off the canopy.

Cheers.

Haven't seen an Avenger in Silver before, I don't expect to see much difference just due to colour but will be interested to see the finished product. Are you installing it yourself?

No. I'm getting it installed by the guys at Opposite Lock in Springwood. My time at home is precious these days due to family. I'd rather save my brownie points and cash them in for a weekend away fishing :cheers!:

Just for information, I contacted Caddy for a quote and they told me they no longer supply the Avenger canopies. They sent me information on Alpha canopies. They could do these canopies for about $300 cheaper than what I'm paying for the Avenger.

There is a picture of the Avenger in silver on the Caddy website (even though they don't stock them anymore)

There was a bit of talk about Alpha's when I brought mine, the poms seemed to like them but there wasn't anyone really interested in importing them into Aus. Probably wouldn't have changed my mind though I think the Avenger is still better especially if the price difference is only $300.

Yeah, they are a nice looking canopy. The canopy that Caddy sent me a pic of looks even better than the one in the link above (in my opinion anyway...)

Let's see if this image works

Holy Crap I got mine delivered to my door 2 hours from the city and spent one arvo putting it on and paid just over $3000. Either canopies have really gone up or some companies really think they are worthy of ripping people off. $3800 is dearer than Nissan.

Yup, But i just got off the phone with 3XM. they do a high roof for the D40 for $1900, +350 colour code (standard is white) +175 for fitting. fit time is 2 hours.

Guess i will be going with them.
3XM Canopies

Will be going the styleside.
