I have a 800mm Gme white antenna

does anyone know if you can remove just the whip?

cheers

sounds about the same as the GME AE4705 I have. The answer is yes. There is a allen key grub nut in the base of the whip. undo (don't lose it) and screw the whip off the base anti clock wise. You should have a rubber cap that would have come with the antenna that you can put on the spring base to stop crap getting in the coax connection

That's a bit odd. I'd have thought you could at least unscrew the absolute bottom section where the coax runs into the bottom of the whip. I can unscrew my AE4705 from the spring base and put my tiny little AE409L into it as well. I see the 4014 has an integral spring. maybe that's why??

I got a GME AE4705. Brilliant antenna.

Dave.

the "specialists" told me bar antenna's are no good. I fitted mine after initially having the AE409L mounted to the sports bar behind the cab. had to remove that for my canvas canopy idea. My Gme radio and AE4705 works fantastic. my travelling buddies commented how clear I come over and I was hearing opposite way travelling parties on the Simmo before anyone else was. might not be the best setup in the world but it works for what I need. You'd be surprised at the amount of fools we came across travelling the other way in brand new 200's with no camping gear, no flag, no radio, nothing. very dangerous. sorry went on another tangent....
