Yeah that would be the easiest way if you don't want to go to the effort of tracing the wires back. Chances are they probably just connect to the reversing light but cutting them at the alarm and wrapping tape around them will suffice, you could terminate them properly to be safe but that step would be your choice.
Yep got the side cutters ready but cant even find the damn thing !

We used to install them up around the towbar/bumper bar area because the cabling was easier to get to but who knows what they do these days.

It could be one of those globes that has the alarm built in so it might be easier to check your reversing light globes first.
