2.5 or 3.0?

You'll probably find the 3.0 has more torque down low - more cubes always equals more raw power - but the turbocharger on the 2.5 is better, and intercooling also provides benefits.

One of the benefits of the intercooler - that we all hope you'd never need to use but sometimes happens - is that it will catch broken bits of the turbocharger. Turbocharged vehicles need to be allowed to cool after a hard run before being switched off. The temperature on the turbine side of the turbocharger is quite high at full load and the only reason why the bearings survive is because the running engine pumps fresh oil into the bearings constantly. If that flow stops, the oil inside the bearings cooks, forms a hard varnish and destroys the bearings, with the inevitable destruction of the turbo following. Without the intercooler, these fragments would enter your engine - making it a very costly rebuild.

If you're happy to intercool the 3.0L engine, go for it. The 2.5L engine is a good one though - you shouldn't really be disappointed with either of them.

the 3.0 nav is Jap built and 2.5's are built in Thailand and general concensus is the Jap's built a better quality vehicle but they will be slightly older so may make little difference in the scheme of things but just food for thought.
