I made mine from Vision mesh. Aluminium mesh I was able to cut and bend at home.It certainly does work I have been cleaning them up to put back on and there are certainly lots of dimples from stones

I have been thinking of doing something like this too as my sills will end up sandblasted just driving on the dirt road home.
