2012 Navara D40: The story so far - The radio/stereo unit (standard) had an intermittent fault and has now gone completely dead. The unit seems okay powering directly off the battery. The problem seems to be voltage drop (parasite drain) from the fuse to the unit - voltage at unit reads 6v or less. Any ideas anyone? Have disconnected the 3 transfer box switches (replaced recently) which I believe are on the same circuit but made no difference! The RAC have been called out twice because battery was completely flat - they said the drain was on the radio/amp fuse/circuit. Any help would be appreciated - Thanks, Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I'd check the earth. You might find a lack of solid continuity between the stereo chassis and the ground - it's been a common issue. Try this: put a jumper lead between the radio chassis and one of the dash mount bolts (not one of the screws that go into the plastic, one of the bolts that go into the metal frame underneath the dash).

What sometimes also happens is the instrument cluster starts playing up, and earthing the stereo fixes it - because the stereo and instrument cluster share the earth point.
