To hit or not to hit... brought a second hand diff for the d22 and some how 3 of the studs where bad and needed replacing .

I have never done one and the thought of hitting them with a sledgy didn't sit well with me sooo..

This little gem was in a kit from super cheap.
Once I made up a spacer to fit the ball joint remover it then sat better on the back of the axle..

Putting them back in I froze the studs "yup wacked them in the frezer" for 10 or so minutes and warmed/ heated the hole with a little jet lighter I use for soldering.. and then pulled them home with a few sacrificial lug nuts..

I had a stud strip on me on the front, after I finally got the nut off I just tapped the bad one out.
There is no room to get the new one on so I just loosened off the disc and the new one just tapped back in.

Lol don't mozz me, nice to know regarding the front though..

Yeah I've never had to do one, in all these years not one - but now that I know how easy they come out I would pop'em with a hammer "if I didn't have a ball joint splitter".. Now getting them back in- what way would you go about it? Yes i got that you tappedthe front ones back in but the rear -any thoughts?
I used heat and cold only because it was convenient, pulling them in by their own tread feels naaaasty to me- stresses the thread me thinks.. There is an accessory you can buy that works by putting the load on a bearing , looks the goods....I'll have to find the link now!
