hey all, just wondering if anyone knows the minimum flywheel thickness for machining.
searched and looked in the manual and cant seem to find it.
cheers

i don,t think it really matters that much with the thickness of the flywheel as if it is shaved down , the clutch / pressure plate will only move abit closer to the gearbox and if there is any adjustments needed you should be able to adjust the clutch peda rod to take up any free play from the slave cylinder.
i am sure the machine shop guys would know if its to worn down for any machine work, maybe take the flywheel in to them for a look. thats if its off the engine.

There should always be a minimum thickness, if u machine a fly wheel to thin it can shatter as it can't dissipate heat enough. Hopefully the machine shop will know the spec or maybe a generic spec for the flywheel. I'm a HD mechanic and normally we have a special to follow.

well i f your a hd mechanic you should have a good idea of the condition of this flywheel face , can it handle a surface skim ?? etc etc , does it look too worn ?? etc etc . as i said take it to a specialist machine shop that does this work and they will tell you the story. what are you trying to acheive ? make the flywheel lighter or repair its mating surface for a new clutch ??

pay to move this post to the D22 section.

thought its a bit early for D23's to need flywheels done.
