wouldnt the thermo fan help keep the cooler air flow coming through the bonnet but?

the radiator airflow and top mount IC air flow do tend to fight against each other. hence the need for fans, especially at low speeds. how badly they fight depends on air flow down under the vehicle and how much pressure on the front side of the coolers.

font mount IC has an advantage that the airflows don't fight against each other, but the IC does block some air going through the radiator and heats it up slightly. however because airflow temp existing the IC is still far lower than radiator water temp its not a big loss.

Same as the water cooled they have little radiator out the front but I guess there is less area for it to block plus having its own fan and cooling system could cool instead of restricting

so how do you get rid of the heat to the ambient air? Snorkel??

not sure what you mean by that.

water cooled has radiator out front. obviously any radiator in front of main radiator also blocks a bit of air going to main radiator. most water air intercoolers have a small radiator, i think most are too small. theres no performance loss by using a big one. as long as you don't block off to much aor flow to main radiator you can fit a huge one.
