Hey Guys,

I have picked up a second hand long range tank. It has been pretty empty for a while and in the bottom there is a layer of rust (I assume) which was covered by diesel, the sides are clean. I can manually clean the middle section which has the fuel sender as you can reach in, however the front and back sections are blocked by internal baffles. I am thinking of using the evaporust product from Supercheap as it shouldn't affect the tank or the aluminised steel internally. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Cheers

A bit late, but I have cleaned tanks with a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water.

Cheers yeah I ended up buying some evaporust from supercheap to sit in the bottom of the tank, worked pretty good. Even after heavily flushing the tank with diesel prior to install and changing the fuel filter after the first tank the new filter was completely clogged by the time I finished the second tank my icv% was terrible and had intermittent 0707 fault code due to low icv% so I'm onto another new fuel filter and I'll carry another spare incase it blocks up again.

Well the pump icv% is 35 which nissa define as lower. Limit for operation. Hopefully it will last my 11000km trip to the kimberley then just use it till it actually gets symptoms. Diesel specialist said it could go for years you got no idea what actual life span it has left in it
