hey peeps,

just recently i have burnt out my clutch getting pissed off and riding it to try get out of some boggy sand. I have a 2006 duel cab 3.0 litre nissan navara. the trouble is that i have a duel mass flywheel which means its going to cost a couple of grand to fix, when a solid/single mass flywheel can be machined and would on cost a couple of hundred to fix.

I want to replace the whole Duel mass Flywheel with a solid mass flywheel, what are the pros and cons of doing this????

thanks alot, zac

^^ exactly......... who told you that the D22 runs the DMF??
And why didnt you put it in LOW Range so you didnt have to "ride the clutch"??

yeah its a d22 3.0 non turbo, it was in low range but the clutch had been slipping before hand and it was about the 3rd time i went out four wheel driving so i kinda didnt know what i was doing haha, but anyway i took it the dealership which also has a service and parts workshop to get them to have a look at it, i said if its not under warranty let me know, he then called me and said it has hot spots on it and is a duel mass flywheel, i then said ive done some research and thought most of the d22's were solid mass and i asked if he was 100% sure, he then said yes i am positive it is a DMF.

I owned a 06 zd30 D22 for Five years and have never heard of them having a DMF....... Fatboy works in a nissan dealer in the service department and owns the same Ute.......... its got me why yours has a DMF and why its a NON TURBO :hmmmm2:

Are you in Australia or is your D22 a special import or something??

im an australian from perth haha, i bought the car from a perth dealership! maybe they just told me i had a DMF to try and scam more money out of me, i think i should get an independent mechanic to take a look at it whilst im there. i thought it was strange that i had a DMF whilst everyone was smf haha :/

He's probably thinking of the zd30 patrol. Also, as for non turbo, I'm assuming you mean non intercooled. Take it to a clutch specialist, not the dealership, it won't be under warranty and at least they will fix it properly.

mate i have a navara not a patrol, yeah i will cheers

I know what you have, I meant the dickhead you saw at the dealership was probably thinking of the zd30 patrol as they have a dmf...

think you can get an exedy HD clutch for about $550-600, might be the go although nothing wrong with the genuine nissan one.

I wouldnt bother with a heavy duty clutch, i got over 370,000km out of the stock clutch on my 06 D22, no joke. That was a hell of allot of freeway miles but it still towed and i still had it off road allot also.
I have herd a few people on here having a bad run lately with "EXEDY" , which is not to say they are all going to crap but it may be worth looking at other options.

Yeah he said they had taken a look at the flywheel itself but so bot to sure, exedy would probably be the best way to go

Well the only way to look at the flywheel is to drop the gearbox and remove the clutch so if he said it has hot spots I wouldn't believe him, unless they did in fact pull the gearbox out...

Umm non-turbo?

The 3.0l is turbo, 3.2 is not. But 05 should be a 3.0l turbo diesel?
