Hey guys, I've had an issue for some months now, I have a D22 YD25 2004 Navara, and it has an issue I can't seem to find a solution for.

A few months ago, randomly when pressing the gas pedal it would not register me pressing it, and I would have to release it and press again for it to start giving power. Then for some months it stopped doing that. After, it started to do it again, and lately it has started to act like i have released the gas pedal when I am driving, and it acts like im pressing and releasing the pedal constantly. Sometimes at some stop lights it also idles at 2.000 RPM, or when releasing the gas at stoplights the rpm idles at 1.000 for a second and then drops to 750.

I have replaced the throttle position sensor, replaced the Neutral position sensor, drained my water separator filters, added injector cleaning and particulate filter cleaning liquids in the tank, reseted the ECU by disconnecting the battery and pressing the key switch/pressing the brake pedal, cleaned my EGR valve, and took it to 2 different garages that couldn't find anything.

Problem is still there, what can I do to fix it? I've searched every other forum for the issue but I haven't found anything!

Am guessing your typo supposed to read 2014, not 2004.
Have you checked the connector plug that attaches to the accelerator pedal.
This issue sounds like a connection problem to me.

It's a 2004 4x4 Double Cab model, I have tried pushing the throttle position sensor plug as much as it goes, and no difference.

Car was bought in 2017 used.

I'm going to guess you're not from Australia? We never got the YD25 direct injection motor here, only the CRD. There have been quite a lot of issues with main bearings over in Europe, hopefully it isn't the motor having trouble.

Does it have any fault codes stored in the engine computer? I'm not sure what injection pump those motors use, but I know the zexel rotary pump used on the zd30 tends to cook the pump computer if air is let into the injection system.

I do recall mention of people on here using ecutalk to check on the icv% reading at idle. Apparently this reading changes as the pumps wear, but I can't recall whether a higher or lower number is more worn... This is on the zd30 motor though, so the same thing may not apply to the yd25 di motor.

As for starting with the simple stuff first, have you tried replacing the accelerator pedal unit? Even if it is from a wrecked one, just to test it and see if that's the problem?

Good luck and make sure you let us know how you go.

Is it sucking air into the fuel line somewhere? My YD25 D40 has no power above idle to high revs when accelerating but would run fine once going. It would also be very hard to start after letting sit for a while. The manual prime bulb had perished and was leaking. Replaced it and no problems since.

Alright so issue got fixed!

A certain number of engines between serials were affected by main bearings, my model engine was not in the affected serials.

I went to a Nissan dealership, was quoted 30 euros to scan the ECU, but I had to close a date after March because they had no available time. So, off I took to an aftermarket garage specialising in Nissan vehicles only, the guys there were very helpful, hooked up the car on the ECU scanner and it showed a Throttle Position Sensor fault. The guys told me that apparently aftermarket Chinese TPSs don't work well with the car, because they don't synchronise well. He made some calls, and found me a whole pedal assembly for 70 euros, used, and I took the original TPS and hooked it to my car, problem is now gone!

Nissan asked 530 euros for a pedal assembly, and does not sell the TPS alone. The only new sensors available are some Chinese one's that have no name on them, only serial. And they don't work. So, if anyone else has such an issue, better hit a scrapyard and find a used TPS, chances are it will be functional, since the guys at the garage told me it was their first time someone came for a TPS!

I'm a bit confused - the original post said the throttle position sensor had been replaced but did'nt fix the issue.
Then the solution was to replace the TPS and it fixed the issue.
Is it then, that you put in a Chinese TPS and the issue remained, and then replaced that with an entire throttle assembly inc a genuine TPS and that fixed the problem ?

I would say the original replacement tps was Chinese, hence the issues. Once replaced with a genuine one the problem is fixed...

Yes, the Chinese TPS caused issues. So my original stock nissan TPS hit the bucket and died, I replaced it with a Chinese which did not work out of the box, and then I got a used genuine one that works perfectly.
