Dawons city, Yukon in there. It was a amazing place, old style, all wooden foot paths and dirt roads except for the main road that ran past the river. Been used for a lot of film sets but is a real life every day functioning town.

If you go to Florida I recommend doing hwy 41 & not the Everglade Pkwy[toll anyway].Gators in every bit of water we saw & they come out on edge of hwy to sun themselves.Lots of other wildlife as well.So much that they have built sensors in road to detect them, signs on side of road flash if animals detected ahead.

What impresses us so much is how quick the terrain changes in US here is 20min after frozen lake.

MMM autumn,whats the plans?

Pick up my rig in Ohio, then head up to the north east corner after a detour to salmon fish in Michigan, and basically follow our noses back down the coast, taking in NYC and DC among others, then right turn back toward Ohio. We want to see the seasons change and have never been that way before, don't tend to plan too much, just get an outline and make it up as we go along.

Ah Powder River Pass. Done very much the same drive. Left Yellowstone out of the East gate and headed north in our case. One of the most amazing drives I've done. Out of there, over 6000' pass or so there down again, then thru the Black Mountains. Buffalo Bill country, Warm, flat plains and even complete with a few small tumble weeds, then comes the climb I think that pass is over 9000' Kind of like flying and driving at the same time:) The big thing is, it's all in a days drive. Impressive!

Now if that don't get your apatite going Rich. Good thing about the Iconic Nth. American road trip, a loose plan will do. It's such and easy and in allot of ways inexpensive holiday. Don't scrimp on the car as you can cover some big K's (miles) in a day if you wish and a comfy rig can make a world of difference on how you feel at the end of it. Yes a Titan would be good. Got myself one of these on my last trip (see pic) and the car was a star. A Ford Explorer. It had everything and I mean everything even radar assist cruise control. I could go on but for 2 months it was only about 300 or 400 more than the next class down like a Ford Escape. In the scale of the whole trip, bugger all. The Rental company would of had a heart attack. If they saw where I took it.

Fly rods eh, how your talking, I'll buy 1 over there this time, I took my sage last year, Tappet, I OWN a Titan and caravan over in the US, I have done the yellowstone thing but would love to go back, we only had a hire car and accommodation outside the park last time. We try to go every year, but might have to miss out on next year, as we're planning to do the Alcan hwy with frends in 2016.

We had a Elantra, fitted 3 full size suitcases &2 small in boot, about $10 bucks squirt for 100 miles. We did 10,000miles in 5 weeks, with 3night stop in Vegas,3 in Yellowstone,& 5 nights in Reno.Vegas was the only place we prebooked as you need to tell US customs where your staying first night.Rental company would freak if they saw me coming out of Monument valley.huge crowd at top of hill waiting to board open air 4x4 trucks with their mouths open as I flew up hill.Stopped wound down window said "don't panic folks its a renter"

Took a renta up Pikes Peak when it was dirt, light snow falling, can't imagine they would have been too pleased about that.
