Hi all,

I thought I would share a little project I have been working on recently.

I have been after a solid phone mount that will with stand the bumps and rough tracks when off road and after having many different types fail I decided to design my own.

I am only short so having wind screen mount ones weren't suitable as I find anything above the dash distracting and the normal vent mount etc just rubbish.

I have 3D printed a bracket that can be screwed to the surround around the stereo and have a quad lock wall mount piece bolted to it. I have a samsung note 5 which is in an otterbox case, when you buy the case they also send you a belt clip cover. I ended up cutting off the belt clip and glueing a quad lock universal mount to the back of that to hold my phone but quad lock also make cases for various types of phones if you wanted a all in one type solution. I found it easier the use the belt clip case to minimise the size of my already huge phone. This bracket is designed for 4mm cap screws and to have nylon nuts and washers fitted on the back of the surround, you could also just use some long small screws if you prefer.

I have attached some photos so everyone can see and also the links to the quad lock parts I used. I am not affiliated at all with quad lock I just know their mounts work very well, I have used them in the boat for years.

I used my own printer for my bracket but anyone can access a site called 3Dhubs (https://www.3dhubs.com/3dprint) and upload the file and get a quote etc. I uploaded the file before and got a quote as low as $5.

For anyone not familiar with 3D printing I would recommend the highest possible Infill to maximise strength.

Happy to help anyone if they need it.

Cheers

Nice work.
I just got one one from Supercheap, I think it was $10.
I had to replace the tape on the back with a quality brand and it works fine.
The cradle is removable from the base for easy cleaning or adjustment.
Have a Samsung S6 and it fits beautifully between the centre pod and the dash.
Adjustable wings and I can still charge the phone in the cradle.

Here is the link.
