Hi Guys

Just an update on my situation. They finally offered to supply a replacement case (after they saw this post) I told them I have since purchased a case from another wrecker which is true. They have advised they will refund my money which I am very happy about as it is some sort of resolution to the issue.

Its not easy getting good service these days. But what a joke. I would get onto consumer affairs

That's the biggest issue with buying stuff sight unseen off the internet... still pretty average service, considering they have been recommended by people on this forum as a good place to deal with for parts... I take it tonys auto wreckers didn't have anything any good?

Not the first time i have read a review about them like that, and exactly why i didn't use them when i needed parts.

Good to know. They seemed like they would be a good source of second hand parts but I don't think I'd bother trying them now!

That's just ridiculous. 100% lodge a written complaint with consumer affairs. It's very unlikely anyone would not state what type of car they had and wanted a part for, that's utter crap. It is very likely however that they would not record it properly and just send the first case they tripped over (keep the email with the 350z handle invoice as it illustrates that point).

Also compile all emails and phone log of when you contacted them to try and resolve the issue, this is evidence. Don't let them get away with it. You do have options.

Hi I did contact tonys and they had one with twice as many kms for twice as much money. I decided to try my luck online and thought to myself a Nissan 4x4 specialist wrecker would know what hes doing. I WAS VERY WRONG.

Update since I posted this last night, I emailed niss 4x4 the hyperlink to this post and they came back very quickly still blaming me for ordering the wrong thing. Even though I gave them all the details I thought they would need and would have obtained the answers to any questions they might have had(which they never asked). Once again they blamed my mechanic for installing the wrong one. I replied saying yes the mechanic possibly should of noticed the difference but he didnt, there isnt much I can do about that now and that even if I could convince my mechanic to install another transfer case for free I still dont have the right transfer case anyway.

He replied saying they dont want me to be out of pocket and would like to help me, to which I replied you have had a month to help me and have done nothing but lead me on and that I wouldnt trust them to supply a good product now anyhow.

As it happens I had ordered a new transfer case earlier this morning as having a car in limp mode has been majorly effecting my business by me not being able to drive on highways or up any decent sized hill.

So if anyone needs a transfer case with 60000km on it that suits a Navara with ABS let me know!!

Sounds about normal for tonys lmao. Good luck with the new one, hopefully that's the right one this time...

We had the same issue but with a Hyundai wrecker. Needed a stereo unit for an IX35, only a few years old (buttons stopped working). Picked up a unit from the wrecker, got home and installed it. Doesn't work. Call them, they tell me it's my bad luck as I should of tested it there...

They refused to swap the unit. Asked them if I bought a gear box and it didn't work, is it my bad luck. Yep.

Such scum these wreckers are

Yeah they are a pack of Bastards. I dropped by to check out a replacement door which they claimed was in perfect condition. It wasn't. When I pulled them up on it and said I wasn't going to purchase they became forceful and aggressive. I would be very very cautious about buying anything from there without viewing it in the metal first.

Buying a transfer case from the other side of the country without photos or part number matching seems a bit naive on the buyer's behalf, you don't need to trash a wrecker online. Everyone who's said they're going to steer clear will probably change their tune when they work out which wrecker carries the most Nissan stock in Melbourne.

For mine they're better than the average wrecker.

I have to agree with Dion here. I have dealt with Niss4x4 and found their service to be quite reasonable. I did double checks with the sales dude on the phone before paying ie. Diff ratios, year, model etc. I even haggled a little on price. Not having a go at the OP because I wasn't there, but, and there is always a but! You didn't check your purchase before installing it, seems like a 50-50 f-up to me!

Whilst I agree that the compatibility of the part should have been checked before installing, these guys have a track record of exceptionally bad service and supplying the wrong gear. If you ring someone and they supply the wrong part then that should be replaced. The transfer case in question is still usable and they can quite easily sell it again. This really is a non issue that has been made difficult by unacceptable follow up service.

If you specify the year and model that should be enough information for them to discern the correct part.

I walked in once - and the service was non existent and they were very rude....almost dismissive!
That was enough for me.
Some customer service isn't too much to ask!

My experience...

When I was chasing a jack and all the support equipment for my D40 (the previous owner obviously liked it so much they kept it) I was told to contact these guys..

E-mail sent (phone calls where not answered - must be I am in Perth and that whole timezone diffrence).. E-mail replied to a week later..

1 x Jack and extension rods to lower the spare tyre .... $235 + POSTAGE of $50

So given that - I steered clear..
