HI ALL
I WAS WANTING TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS REBUILT THEIR TURBO ?
I HAVE A D40 07 SPANISH AUTO

PART ON TURBO AS FOLLOWS...
GARRET M24EC-1
GT2056V 14411E00C
789708-2 S/N KAC00773

I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS UNITS ARE NOT SERVICEABLE AND CAN NOT BE REBUILT? (bearings , seals etc..)
I FIND IT ASTONISHING THAT THIS IS TRUE. !!

ANY FEED BACK ON THIS ISSUE WOULD BE OF MUCH HELP.

CHEERS

I was going to rebuild mine but decided to get one with a billet compressor (lighter, spools up faster but doesn't provide any more boost). Kits are on eBay and I might yet get one and rebuild my old one.

It's really just a few seals, clips and a couple of journal bearings. Nothing spectacular. Here's one - you might want to ask them if it will suit your exact turbocharger.

Mmm would be cheaper to rebuild but two of my friends have recently had issues with turbo rebuilds, one done in WA, one done in QLD

Both had garnet left in the housings from sandblasting process, one had incorrectly seated bearing, turned out to be non genuine parts, both turbos had to be sent interstate again, negotiate with returns to the turbo rebuilder etc

Lotsa mucking around for a few saved bucks

You really REALLY need to be able to trust the rebuilder

So tempting for them to use chinese parts to increase profit and the customer has no way to tell what's inside with turbos

thanks guys...
ive purchased a second hand one, and apparently its got a bit of an oil leak, hence the reason i wanted to rebuild this one and once done i would replace it with mine. Turbo specialist in Brisbane has told me they are a non-rebuildable unit..... so if that is the case, i might swap the Actuator as i have done the Turbo Boost Solenoid 3 days ago and its more responsive, yet... it still cuts out turbo and TORQUE app reads 29 Vac on a full pedal of throttle on take off.
hopufully the Actuator is the culprit for all this Turbo drop-off sequences...

all vanes replaced with blue silicone ones. and all the other checks done..
this is my last hope .... i think !

my understanding on this is the units are rebuild-able but garret doesn't give out info on how to set up the vanes correctly.

Hi Guys, just joined the forums and looking for some info I saw this thread. I have replaced the CHRA for these turbos with internals from Europe.

So far so good, no issues. The CHRAs seems to be of good quality.

Cheers.
