Hi guys. Have had some limp mode issues, had a cold pipe possibly off a while ago, not sure if it’s related. Every now and then, it goes into limp mode, doesn’t normally show engine light but has a couple times. Turn car off and on again and is ok again for a while.

Have done the pedal dance ECU reset and is ok for a while and then it happens again.

Have looked into the issue, but can’t find a solution. Any help would be awesome.

Thanks

It's the sort of symptoms we've seen with a dirty/faulty SCV. First line of defence is a can of Liqui Moly Fuel System Conditioner. You could also do a diesel purge, or with just a small amount of fuel in the tank pour the diesel purge into the tank and take it for a drive. It won't do the engine any harm at all, and might solve either the SCV or dirty injectors. A quick note: we've had dirty SCV before, the Liqui Moly fuel system conditioner fixed the hunting we had at idle but eventually we had to replace the SCV anyway.

The Navara service manual shows P1028 as "Exhaust Gas Pressure Sensor" (not the "Coolant below thermostat regulating temperature" that you'll find on OBD code pages). You might have a faulty sensor in the exhaust - if your vehicle is fitted with a DPF, there's every chance this is causing you some issues.

It may only be an electrical connection causing the problem. Jack up the car, put it on stands, clamber underneath (cold engine) and disconnect&reconnect all of the sensors connected to the exhaust.
