Default 2008 D40 Auto Turbo Diesel Engine Life Expectancy?

Hi, what is the general life expectancy of one of these engines? New to diesel engines - thinking of taking on a 2008 D40 Auto Turbo Diesel with 300,000 on it. It has been a well maintained vehicle used for general driving and towing of a horse float once each month or so. Never off-road.

Just looking for a general indication from you experienced Navara owners!

Personally, I wouldn't be buying any car with those K's on it.

My Mood:

My own car has 320,000km, I bought it new in 2009. Have taken it off road. I've towed with it. I've driven in 50C heat and -11C cold on snow and ice. I've taken it up the Alpine Way (with a caravan) and up the Stuart Highway.

I've had some turbo issues. One turbocharger failed through age. Replaced it with a cheap one off eBay, won't do that again, that one failed. The current turbo is a genuine Honeywell Garrett.

I had some DPF issues - wrote to auggie on this forum, he fixed me up with some sensors, no more drama.

Other than that it's wear and tear items. Wheel bearings, brake pads that sort of thing.

At 323,792km my engine purrs. Never had an injector out. Have used Liqui Moly injector cleaner a few times. Replaced the SCV once (it's a small part on the fuel pump). Don't have a boost controller any more, I use a Tilix valve.

My intention is to see that many km again - and judging by the sound of the engine, I probably will.

don't be concerned about the K's, mine has 260k on it, and only replaced 2 alternator pulley bearings, 1 boost control valve, and 1 set of front discs. No timing chain issues with mine!
