As I said above, I am about too make one of these beasties to try and hold onto my windscreen when I go bush, I have two stone chips and I reckon, "Three
strikes and I'm out again, and at about $400.00Au plus fitting, I'm not looking forwards to this again!

I have bought a few bits and pieces from Bunnings Rip/off's Aluminum Section
and some "Snake Proof Wire" which is about 5/16" squares and really looks the part to my tiny mind, But if any of you folk have one at a reasonable price, in W.A.
I could be very interested in doing a deal!

There are a couple of beauties on "GumTree" and again on "Evilbay", but I reckon
the Freight would be a real killer to get either of them here hence the thought
of my building my own!

Best regards,

Stone Guard

I was quite happy to pay a reasonable price, But, I think I'll just make one, I
believe the "Toyota Hi- Ace" 2005 Model looks the simplest to tackle!

Gday John. Are you making a guard to fit on the front of the bonnet? Post a pick when your done mate. I was thinking the snake mesh may be a bit noisy at speed, but the old tug isn't that fast is it hehe

Stone Guard

Hello again Boogieboots,
That's bloody lovely that is, although the added power I have found with the
Service we gave that old "Injector Pump", she just might give a bit more sound
if nothing else!

I have found a couple of good Photo's of "Toyota" Stone Guards, and I feel
it will be easier to copy this, Yes I will take a couple of "Piccies" in the Morning
and try to post them tomorrow Afternoon for a Chuckle from one and all!

These can be bought from the "Eastern States" for around $350.00 Au, I believe
mine will cost about $75.00 with Aluminum from Bunnings here in Rockingham,
and I have nearly completed near on half the bottom Frame!

I will paint the complete Frame and "Snake Wire" with Flat Black to reduce any
Glare from Sunlight, or Headlights after Dark, If you are thinking about one for
yourself, I would consider it an honer to assist you in the construction of your
own, Just drop in and give your opinion if your passing by, I am just passing time
doing bits and pieces on my Ute while I wait for our little "Dog Tamsyn"to die of
old age!
Look forward to seeing you, and your Family,
Best Regards,
highway Man!

There you go Boogieboots,

Another Stuff/up

:sorry3:
This Trailer carries all of my Crap to live from as well as any Tools I might need for repairs, It took a fair bit of Welding too glue it back together after I bought it back from Number Severn Son, This leaves the Ute Tray clear to carry a true one Ton of Scrap Brass, Copper, and Batteries to sell to Dealers!

Stone Guard Mk-1

Well I started with Aluminum from Bunnings but over stressed it and it snapped
in two places, so Mk-2 will be commencing today using Steel for my Frame work,
and the same "Snake Gauge Net" which I have not damaged as yet!

This Morning I will go into Rockingham and buy some Fifteen Feet of "6-mm" of
round steel solid, and bend a Rectangle frame and weld it, so,
Watch this space!

Stone Guard Mk-2

Well, I bought the Steel Rod and shaped and welded this to suit the Front of my "Beaut Ute" with two mounts on top of the Mudguards and one Stabilizer on each
side and a Top Mounting Strap in the Centre Roof!

I was going too Braise the Wire Net to the Frame, but the Frame required too much Heat and would destroy the "Galvanism" so I stitched the Net to the Frame with
some Medium Copper Earth Wire, which worked a real treat for me!

I spray painted the outer side of the Wire with a flat "Army Karkie" and a flat Black in the Inside to stop any Glare from oncoming Headlights, Then I had fitted a
full Harness cover all the way around the Frame to minimize any "Hurts" from
my Wire Stitching, after using near on a half a dozen "Band-aids" on myself!

This Morning I will check all the anchorages and take her for a drive and see the results of my project,
now I will try again to get some photo's up for your perusal and comments,

"Boogieboots" is banned from looking, of course!

best regards,
