Hi all,

Getting ready for the Simpson/ Hay River trip in Sept, and looking at canopy set up ideas for the D22.

Has anyone added a high level shelf or come up with other novel ideas for storing must have but hope not to use type stuff?

I have the third battery and fridge down the left hand side but the right side of the tub is empty and awaiting your ideas!

Read your whole thread Bryan, love the build up!

The wire cage you have near the ceiling of the canopy, do you know what the specific name is of it? Is it a cable tray?

It's a smart idea to use the space there, want to implement it in mine :)

This is how I did mine. Not finished in the pictures but gives the idea. I have a turntable fridge slide and cages above the fridge and a centre divider.

It's a shame now that I am removing the tub for a tray back with a hard canopy and a dog cage.

I forgot to add to that if you look at the second photo you can see how it's designed for the centre section to be rolled out to free up the ute area for a bit more flexibility. It is on rollers also.

I ended up building a long shelf that fits my CHEP crates with room for the recovery bag on the end. One crate is stove and cooking, the other is the tucker box. Compressor is mounted and wired, and reaches all four wheels out the side window.

FWIW, we have a tray system in the back of the tub, but the canopy is still being worked on. We've always stored stuff in stackable trays. We preferred the Nally made Toy Cubes, but Super Cheap(and others) do a smaller version Not the ones that you can turn 180 and they sink down inside as these bounce and topple a lot.

The advantage is that all similar stuff is in one location and stuff isn't squashed. The disadvantage is each wastes a little air space compared to piles of calico bags. Caveat, some boxes can be heavy and a pair to locate and move, but having the weight forward is good.
