Default patrol zd30 ute

Looking at buying a 5 yr old zd30 ex telstra ute as well as keeping the nav.
Intrested in opinions on it.
Id like the 4.2 but cant justify the cost of something also 20 yrs old.
I also want something with abs which the patrol has.
The zd in the patrol has a bad rap but as far as I can see thats mostly in the early models.
From the research ive done the common rail patrol is no more unreliable than other comon rails of its time but Im still happy to hear some opinions.

the common rail doesn't have the grenade issues. however it has economy issues. don't know if they worked out a fix for that or not.

What other capable 4x4s utes are there with the same driveline quality of a patrol?
Forget the LandCruiser as it's out of budget

Maybe a defender?

The Patrol has a live front axle & the best LSD on the market - pretty hard to go past that, especially at the prices that the used Patrol coil cabs go for.

I've driven enough Land Rover 2a's, 3's & Perente's for work to know that I'd never pay to drive a Defender though lol.
