fried stereo, had it replaced under warranty and was advised to check alternator VR as suspected over voltage killed the head unit.
now i rewired the stereo when i had starting issues (thought it could have helped) now i removed a black box (about the sise of couple of small matchboxes on top of each other) with a fuse and coil in it on a small circuit board.
now my question is, what was in that box and was it protecting the stereo from over voltage?
cheers
