Hey Guys,

Wanting to have a crack at removing the intake manifold but I can find very little information on it, also the workshop manual is next to useless. On the patrol forums there are a couple of threads like these:

http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/showthread.php?21954
or this

I have seen some people use a spray to break down some of the build up but I dont like the idea of this crap even if broken down going through the engine.

The biggest problem I can see is removing the injector piping, apparently according to those patrol threads it is the hardest part, also most dont bother dropping the coolant as you can just move the EGR valve around and out of the way while leaving it connected.

I'd like to try this but afraid I may get stuck and maybe Im better for paying someone else $400 to do it.

What are peoples thoughts?

Cheers,
Shorty

I cleaned out the manifold on my 22 when i had it, couldn't believe the amount of crap that was in there, took the best part of a day, it probably took as much time to get the crap out as it did to remove/replace the manifold, the trickiest part was the injection pipes.

Did you notice improvements after cleaning out the manifold power or economy? Thinking about doing this and maybe replacing my injectors at the same time.

She ran a lot smoother in power and idle, never really measured fuel economy but each time i completed an engine related mod the economy seamed to improve, you can see from my signature the mods i had done, i was getting over 700 k's to a tank before the fuel light came on, the 40 gets no where near that:pissedoff:

I have taken everything off, I am down to removing the injection pipes. Is there any good way of doing it? I assume the nuts just unscrew at each end and the pipes comes off?

I am keen to give it a crack to sometime too. Maybe you could take a few pics and write up your experience Shorty?
Cheers mate.

Yeah mate, I didn't take too many pics but hopefully enough to get the point across. It was actually quite easy to do, just time consuming. Ill try post up a how to when I get a chance
