Hi guys so I've thought about building a drawer system for a while and have been looking at all the different materials available And what would best suit m needs, at the moment I done have a canopy and I don't plan in buying one anytime soon, I am a plumber so I will also require toolbox space as well, here's what I've come up with.

Aluminium 25mmx25mm x 1.2mm - $15 per 1.8m

The joiners you will need are $2 a pop

plate angle To corner off the front over the marine carpet

Aluminium sheeting to fill the drawers

Exterior ply, 1200x600 sheets to sit on top of the framework and on the face of the drawers
http://www.bunnings.com.au/plywood-exterior-1200x600mm-18mm-h3_p0330083

Drawer slides

The toolboxes i will be mounting on either side

With the drawer system taking up the full base of the try and sitting just above the wheel arches I'm thinking this will be sturdy enough to mount a rhino toolbox on either side (linked above) they are 1100 L 600w W and 485 Hthis will leave arround 400mm space in front of the tool boxes and 200mm~ inbetween them so to utilise the space at the front I will mount a jerrycan in front of either toolbox and the space inbetween can store a hi lift jack, shovel and whatever else there, next up will be the building photos and progress ect. Wish me luck

Ide put the link up but ime on the tablet atm and its a pain in the butt
Search for sparras build and you will find it

I just used e advanced search and had a bit of a gander, looks pretty sweet how did you like the material?

I've drawn up a rough frame design and I think I'll be spending a bit more on materials than you would have :/

Okay here's my rough frame design with approximate costs keep in mind this doesn't include the actual drawers, ply sheet on top or the marine carpet.
The reason I have framed flush on top of the wheel arches is because of the fact there will be a 1500x1500 sheet of ply on top supporting two large toolboxes

Front view, the toolboxes are only 1110 long so this allows for a few bits at the front

the material was easy to work with
the only downside was the size of material robs you of some space
my drawers are 18mths old and have copped heaps of abuse with wet dogs, wet camping gear and all sorts of junk thrown in
they are still working fine
they are teck screwed into floor in 4 places and take about an hr to remove if required

as for your pics you will find it easier to open a photo bucket acct(free)
upload your pics to photobucket
then there is a link in each pic to add to post (last one on list called img codes)
simply copy and paste link in your post and pic will come up full size in post
like this

That's good news, i don't mind loosing a small amount of space if I'm using quality stuff I'd rather do it right the first time :)
Thanks for the help with the photos too

If you want to put photos in like sparra said, you need the
link. Then it will show in the thread.

Can I ask where you screwed it in mate

So I've completed the frame so far, Took a few trips to bunnings because I didn't want too much waste but here's some progress pictures

And if anyone knows of any good drawer runners I'm interested at the moment, cheers trent

I'm going to have to put a length through the middle half way up and on either side to screw the drawer slides onto, ah well nothing difficult

here is a pic of how i mounted my drawer slides
and as far as where i screwed to floor
i screwed 2 lenghs of alum angle to frame
1 at front 1 at back(under drawer)
then simply teck screwed through tub
then got under and put some sicaflex where screws came through tub

I did consider your method of the wood to mount the slides on but I think it will be easier for me to run another length through the middle, and hope I can manage to get the screws to hold from the drawer slides into the aluminium thanks sparra

How much has that cost you so far mate. i work at bunnings and did it with form ply instead but now weighs a tonne. are you going to go with draw slides or bearings

the framework cost me almost $300
and today i went and bought 2 sets of drawer slides from i.r.s rated at 125kg and opted for the locking type, i also bought two spring loaded handles that will sit flush unless pulled on.
the slides were $97 a pair, not sure why because they were priced at 110 online, and the handles were $30 each, i know its not too cheap but your paying for quality and will still save a bucketload as opposed to buying the drawer system from a brand, pics to come...
