Anyone changed a D40 cluch at home? How hard is it with standard home workshop equipment.

Gearbox / transfer case looks big and heavy :-O

I used to do work like this at home. It's not difficult, however problems occur when it's all goes wrong. Things like- ok lets change the water pump then a stud breaks off in the the block. Then becomes a major hassel when not it a proper workshop enviroment.
I still do servicing oil, filters and consumables like brake pads, shockies and the like, anything more and it's off to the a workshop.
Some blokes wont hesitate but i'm kind of over it now days.

I did the clutch in my 4Runner at home a few years ago and everything went ok apart from a busted bolt into the flywheel. No biggy a bit of common sense and your good to go.
Thinking sidewards is the key though.
I bought a pair of small sissor jacks and then used those to get the different angles front to rear on the gearbox/transfer case.
Its a fiddle I agree but you can do it but it would be far quicker to have it done .
