yeah mate when in forth gear if you pull the gear stick toward your leg the car will start shuddering/jerking. the problem is with the neutral/gear pos sensor just below the gear stick on the right hand side of the box.

Thanks for all the info. 1 question though, if you can test it unplugged what does it actually do.

It fixes the problem (to a point).
i had this same problem and unplugged it, never had a problem since and did not bother replacing it.

the neutral switch runs the butterflies in the intake. so when in neutral the valves are open. with disconnected switch the butterflies will be closed at idle which is probably not a great thing to have.
but if you have disabled the butterflies it won't matter at all.
