I thought that 265/70/16 was as big as you could go on a D40 in QLD and still remain legal. I have seen a few D40's with 265/75/16 around are they taking a chance or am I wrong?
265/70/16 is the biggest u can go to keep in the 15mm above factory. I have 265/75/16 mickey t's and yes risking it but happened to get a roadworthy with them so buggas me...maybe they a lenient if its not to much ova.
apparently qld is going to lift it to 50mm like the other states but u dont wanna be hanging upside down by the balls waiting for it.
Currently you can go 15mm larger (ie 265/75/R16 are illegal) but Qld will move to the National Code of Practice later this year or next year which allow up to 50mm larger than standard.
Anyway the NCOP is interesting reading on what you can and cannot do:
I believe that you are allowed one size bigger than standard, well that was what i was told by a tyre store when they put my tyres on they are 265/70/r16
