Ive got the standard winch that came out with the D22 from Nissan (XD9000???) I think.

When I winch in theres no dramas, however, when I stop winching and im on an incline, that car rolls back and the which spools and goes backward.
(My thumb is off the button).
This isnt suposed to happen is it??

Im going to take it apart and re grease everything in the next few weeks, but is there somthing that should be engaging when Im not using the winch??

Stuart

The brake should engage when theres no button being pushed.

Edit do they have brakes? otherwise clutch problem

Touch wood my $500 aldi winch is still going strong. Amazingly

The Warn XD9000 has a clutch i am pretty sure. was looking att he specs for 1 not long ago. does it get used much?

No I dont use it much, but when i do use it i like it to hold the car a little bit, LOL.
It wasnt mush use to me however on the Easter weekend, I accidently wound the cable off the spool. LOL, thats another story for another time.
