What is the purpose of them? I can understand the Idler Support but the other part?

I'm guessing it stops any upward movement of that particular joint should you land it on a big rock for example.

something about because of the big lifts the angles change and the arm can come up and hit the chassi. the slider keeps it down and lets it slide along.
you could fix it with new arms but they would need certing.
