I was hoping to hook up a decent air compressor off the PTO but there doesn't seem to be one on my D40. Has anyone seen or thought of any designs for a decent air compressor that can run off the engine power - whether direct or hydraulic - without compromising any functions or relying on battery power?

PTO.....i don't know any light 4x4 that has a PTO.

if there is room for another aircon compressor to be rigged up you could run an endless air setup.

what are you looking to use the compressor for?

Any D21 transfer's have PTO outputs ?

GQ's had em and so did some of the Landcruisers.

Just wanted decent air pressure. I've never seen a battery powered air compressor that doesn't take too long, and to carry a petrol powered compressor defies the purpose. If there was a way to run a mechanical compressor, tyres could be pumped up fast and accurate, airbeds and rafts in relatively no time at all and all with accurate pressure. Plus other advantages of being able to run air powered tools such as saws, drills, grinders or anything else you might want to use on a job site.
